Artists

Modern Shapes Editions represents the creations of a carefully curated, yet diverse, selection of artists from around the globe, all with different skillsets and backgrounds. Some are still making their first career waves, whilst others are solidly established internationally.

All of the artists share a passion for handcrafting a range of natural or manmade materials, which naturally lend themselves to transformation into solid wooden editions.

Alban Lanore

Alban Lanore’s sculptural work combines abstract and rational worlds. Fascinated by nature’s extraordinarily diverse forms during trips to forests, over the years, his organic work got pared down to pure lines and forms.

Helen Vergouwen

Helen Vergouwen is passionate about forms, which are usually geometric but sometimes also irregular and more organic. She turns imagined memories into solid form through sturdy materials, with minimalist sculptures typically made of wood, bronze or corten steel.

Denis Castaing

Denis Castaing underlines how his pieces seek to invest a feeling of movement and rhythm in immobile materials, whilst questioning the relationship that the work has with the interior space contained within.

Levi Hawken

Originating in graffiti art, Levi Hawken creates voids through his pieces, which are often influenced by Brutalism, urban architecture and a desire to express an appreciation for the universe’s unknown force.

ABSID

ABSID’s artistic output is grounded in process and research, exploring themes like analogue-digital transformation, reuse, digital modulation and randomisation.

Scott VanderVoort

Scott VanderVoort’s creations broadly explore themes of impermanence, beauty, memory and the ambiguous divide between art and the mundane.

David Umemoto
